An Introduction

Hello all,

Welcome to The Hunting Grounds, the new blog of Races The Night. Why a new blog? Well, Livejournal is starting to wear thin now and there are people on there I'd rather not speak to any longer and feel that a fresh start is in order.

I'm Races the Night and on the internet my alias is a werewolf. She belongs to a Pack of fellow were-creatures who's complete territory is known as The Hunting Grounds. She has three forms - Human (little bit about that in a moment), Wolf and Hybrid. In her wolf form she is a black coated lupine with a tip of white on her tail and a white sock on her front and back right paw. Similarly, in her hybrid form she is of the same coloration, but she is bi-pedal like a human. Known as an anthro or furry, she is a cross between a human physique and lupine features.

In her human state (that would be moi) she is about 5"8 with short fair hair, which is currently dyed a mahogany red. She has green-brown eyes, is on the slightly fuller side of slim and is currently recovering from chicken pox!

In my life (jumped to the first person tense now) I'm a university student studying an event management course. Currently in the middle of organising a work placement, I'm waiting to hear back from the management to see if I get the year-long placement. Hopefully it will be my last year and I can walk away with a BA hons degree in Event Production. Further still I hope to be organising and running events all over the UK, including concerts, exhibitions, conventions and conferences.

Away from careers now at home I'm an avid book worm. My shelves are currently at bursting point and need a good sort out! I read a lot of fantasy, science fiction and *shock horror* romance - including paranormal, horror, time travel, futuristic, historical and fantasy. At this particular moment in time I'm reading Jacob, by Jaquelyn Frank. The first book in The Nightwalkers series, it's alright, not the most amazing read in it's genre and a bit flowery regarding text here and there, but the plot and world that has been set out seem interesting - so I think I'll be following it for several books onwards. After I finish Jacob I have Dark Possession by Christine Feehan to read. I've been waiting patiently for the release and can't wait to get stuck in, I'm hoping there are some significant revelations as to the continuing story and world as well as a decent writing style - significantly better than Jacob.

If I'm not reading then I'm sat on either of my computers. Right now I'm sat with my newest edition Samsung R70 laptop. It arrived yesterday and I'm still navigating myself around Vista - first impressions are "a little muddier and less user friendly than XP." But Vista is still in its' infancy, so hopefully, some patches and additions from Microsoft's automatic updates will fix it. On the other hand, I'm enjoying the file storage on this system, everything seems a lot easier to find and the handy search feature in the start up menu is very nifty. I'm online most evenings and if I'm not, I'm likely reading or becoming engrossed in the latest video game release. I'm a bit behind on consoles - I'm up to date on portables (PSP and NDS) but I'm still lagging behind with my 'on its last legs' PS2. That's ok, if a game comes out I really want I might give in and buy the 360 or PS3 (but it would need to be an amazing game for me to do so). Wouldn't mind having a live account though, slowly building up a small empire online!

I haven't got a favourite game at the moment, I recently broke the addiction for World of Warcraft and am still searching for something to fill the gap. I have too much spare time which hopefully will be lost when I go on work placement. Although, having said that, I do enjoy Guitar Hero II, "She's my cherry pie" and all that.

Dungeons & Dragons now! Yes, I'm by no means an expert on pen and paper RPGs but I do like a bit of D&D 3.5 (death to e4!), I've only just started in on 3.5, so I wish 4.0 wasn't fast on it's way. Mr DM has recently begun a campaign which is due to move online when one of the players has finished programming his own software for it, but an in person session was held a few weeks ago and another one is in the planning stages I hear. Right now we're playing in the Forgotten Realms campaign setting with the addition of my own homebrew race of dragon halves - Mr DM said I could remodel my previous character to fit into the setting, which is great! But I would have just as easily settled for a normal race! Anyway, I play a silver dragon-half cleric. I'm level 2 at the moment due to the ECL being 6! She's quite strong and has taken a fair few punches so far. I also dabble in World of Darkness by White Wolf but am not as familiar with that system - kind of hoping Mr DM picks up a copy of Monte Cooks new version which integrates D&D with WOD in a D20 system. That way I get the best of both world.

Let's see....what else. I think that's enough to keep you going, please feel free to ask questions - not too personal though!

Races, out.
